A LARGE number kids took out a rally and convened a meeting at district headquarters on Wednesday to build pressure on the Union government for passing ‘Right To Education Bill-2005’ in the current session of Parliament.
These kids, under the banner of ‘Campaign Against Child Labour-Uttar Pradesh’, took out a rally from the district headquarters and passing through several routes, it concluded at the starting venue where a meeting was held.
“Around 5 crore kids are working as child labours across the country whereas only 4.5 crore youths are unemployed in country. The reason behind the problem of child labour is declining status of education and poor economic conditions, causing the problem of unemployment for the youth,” said State coordinator of the campaign Dr Rajni Kant.
He said, government was violating International Child Right Convention and because of non-clearance of the ‘Right To Education Bill-2005’ in Parliament, crores of kids were being deprived of primary education across the country.
Rajkumar, member of campaign from Chandauli said, a large number of kids were deprived of education in the Naxal-affected areas due to which, the educationally deprived kids were working as child labours. He alleged that teachers did not dare to attend the schools in the Naxal-affected areas.
