THE MIDDLE-AGED man, Madhav Singh Chauhan, whose body was found in a gunnysack in Ratibad recently was killed by his son, Somnath, because the former wanted to forcibly establish illicit relations with his own daughter-in-law, police said on Sunday.

The deceased, Madhav Singh’s wife had left him long ago and after his son’s marriage he was allegedly trying to make advances on his daughter-in-law. Somnath had tried to stop his father from making such advances. However, one day when he came home early he found his father forcing himself upon his (Somnath) wife.

The father and son had an altercation and the former gave an ultimatum to the couple that if they wanted to live in the house they would have to accept his wish and let him have the illicit relationship. Enraged, Somnath caught his father by his neck and when the latter fell unconscious, he strangulated him to death with a rope.

SP Anant Kumar Singh said Somnath later drank liquor and the next morning packed the body of his father in a gunnysack. He put it on his moped and dumped the gunnysack near Bhadbhada.

The body was discovered on November 6 and later identified. However, during interrogation Somnath confessed that he had killed his own father. “I earn just Rs 1,500 and got the job only recently but my father was trying to exploit my financial state and wanted me to allow him to have illicit relations with my wife,” said Somnath.

“He felt that he was entitled to such a relation because he owned the house and earned much more,” said Somnath. The deceased, Madhav Singh Chouhan, was employee at the weather office. The accused, Somnath, has been arrested.
