Stones were hurled at a car carrying Nepal's ousted King Gyanendra in Kathmandu on Friday when he was returning from the Pashupatinath temple after offering prayers on the occasion of Shivaratri, but he escaped unhurt.
Eye-witnesses said a group of people started pelting stones on Gyanendra's car as he was returning from the temple, situated six km east of Narayanhiti Royal Palace, after paying homage to Lord Shiva amidst tight security.
The vehicle was escorted to safety by army personnel.
