Highly-rated 17-year-old Jordan King, of Great Britain, claimed top honours in the second and final race of the MRF Delhi Championship at the BIC here on Sunday.
King, who finished second in the opening race behind Australia Nick Percat, took the lead in the very first lap after starting second on the grid 18-year-old, Alice Powell of Great Britain, the only female competitor, drove a composed and technically correct race to finish second, over two seconds behind King.
Iran’s Kourosh Khani finished in third spot. Gaurav Gill was the best of the Indian drivers finishing a respectable sixth.
Speaking after the race, the victorious King said, “Yesterday I had mentioned that given a free track, I will dominate the race since I knew I had plenty of speed. Yesterday too, I was faster than Nick. Today I was sue of doing well. I lost the lead due to a slight error on my part, but I knew I could make it up and immediately took over the lead once again. Once in the lead, my aim was to create a good gap behind me and once I achieved that I knew victory was mine.”
