Actress Tanushree Dutta, Indrani Mitra and their group of friends ensured that Koena Mitra had a great birthday on Monday .
For starters, the gang of girls went to Taj Land's End for dinner on Sunday night, followed by the customary cake cutting at the stroke of midnight.
"It was a pleasant surprise. The chocolate cake was so huge that even though there were 11 of us, we couldn't finish it," she laughs.
Dutta and the girls had more surprises in store. Mitra woke up to the ringing of her mobile in the morning to find a nicely wrapped gift next to her on the pillow. Dutta and some friends had stayed over at her place and packed at least 70-80 gifts and placed them all around Mitra's house.
So when she went to brush her teeth or get herself a cup of tea, Mitra found a gift each time.
"There were surprises even when I went to work out at the mini-gym in my house," she beams.
Mitra found a small teddy bear, miniature perfume bottles, gym wear like head and wrist bands, gloves and even a sports watch, besides other things.
On the professional front, Mitra is gung-ho about Karna, produced by Pritish Nandy Communications in association with a Los Angeles based production house.
The movie features Mitra as a superwoman and she'll get to do a lot of stuntbaazi. Although the shooting will begin later this year, on January 10 Mitra is flying off to Hong Kong to prepare for the action sequences.
She informs, "I'll be learning some forms of martial arts like Tai Chi, besides training for underwater scenes and wirework."
