india Updated: Aug 11, 2006 14:22 IST

WATER SUPPLY from Kolar Dam was disrupted today as the Water Resources Department (WRD) reduced the outflow through the gates without giving prior information to the Bhopal Municipal Corporation. This affected the pumping for about two hours from here.

The BMC administration had to stop pumping from the Kolar Filtration Plant from 10.10 am as the WRD reduced the discharge from the Kolar Dam’s gates. When asked, Executive Engineer (Kolar), S K Andhwan said that they had no prior information in this regard.

According to information, pumping could be started from 10.30 am while other two pumps respectively started from 11 am and 11.40 am. It is learnt that there was some problem in opening the gates and the WRD was checking the gates.

Meanwhile, curtailed water supply in many areas continued today as the overhead tanks did not get full tank level. Shastri Nagar overhead tank is not getting full tank level form the past couple of days. Besides, the MACT reservoir
could not get full tank level. This has affected water supply in Nehru Nagar, Kotra Sultanabad, Aradhana Nagar and adjoining areas.

Water supply in Saket Nagar and Shakti Nagar was also affected today. Besides, there were some complaints regarding the coloured water supply from Tulsi Nagar and Shivaji Nagar.
