The owner of the ill-fated fishing trawler MV Kuber, which was hijacked by terrorists who went on to carry out the November 26-29 attack on the city, has proved to be of great assistance to the Crime Branch.

Vinod Masani helped the police set apart material and equipment that belonged to the slain crewmembers so that the police were able to collect as evidence things brought by the 10 terrorists from Pakistan. It was reported on Tuesday that material belonging to the terrorists was handed over to Islamabad as proof of their hailing from Pakistan. Masani’s cooperation helped the police prepare a detailed panchnama of the material found on the fishing vessel.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said investigations were on to ascertain the credentials of crewmembers who were escorted by crewmembers of the Pakistani ship Al-Husseini before the terrorists got aboard Kuber.

“Nothing has emerged till now,” Maria said.
