Janata Dal Secular (JD-S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday broke his indefinite fast demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the allegations against him that he had amassed illegal wealth.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had levelled allegations against Kumaraswamy and his family that they had had amassed illegal wealth to the tune of Rs. 1,500 crore.
Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa made an appeal to the JD-S leader to call off his strike earlier in the day, as his indefinite fast had entered the second day.
According to reports, the Janata Dal Secular had called a meeting of its leaders on Sunday to discuss the situation arising out of Kumaraswamy's indefinite fast.
