There were rumours that she would not be present at a promotion event of the film Blue for which she is in India to record a song, but Kylie Minogue did finally appear at the press conference late on Friday.
Sources connected to the film had said the Australian pop star was suffering from heat stroke and may skip the event.
Music composer A.R. Rahman did not attend owing to illness and neither did actress Katrina Kaif.
Yet the room at Renaissance Hotel in Powai was packed with media and hundreds of onlookers.
Actors Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta, all starring in the Rs 80-crore film, which is set underwater and shot in the Bahamas, were also present.
Minogue smiled constantly as she spoke about her “intense” experience working in Bollywood.
“It was similar to what I have done before in music videos and so on, but in Bollywood with that many people in a studio and the pace at which they work, that was totally new,” she said, adding that she loved her eight days here.
“It has felt like being in a family. Everyone has been incredibly supportive. Even when the other actors spoke in Hindi it didn’t matter as they made me feel so happy,” she said, adding it was “incredible to work with Rahman”.
She said debutant director Antony D’Souza approached her and directly asked her to be in the movie. “The Bollywood industry is something that has always intrigued me so it did not take me too long to say yes,” she said. “I probably took some time just to act cool but I was actually really excited.”
