The Lady Gaga after-party show to be held at the Jaypee Greens Golf and Spa Resort in Greater Noida on Sunday is already a sellout. The international pop star show's maximum capacity is 1,000 and a single ticket costs as much as Rs 40,000.
Senior vice-president of the Jaypee Sports International (JPSI), Askari H Zaidi, told Hindustan Times on Friday, "It's a huge event. And the response has been equally fitting. But that's only one of the many grand events we're offering this Grand Prix."
The show of Lady Gaga, known for numbers such as 'Poker face' and 'Born this way', will be held at a special 20,000 sq ft area (pop-up lounge) at the spa resort.
On her arrival in Delhi, Gaga has excitedly tweeted, terming the occasion a ‘dream come true’.
But the ticket price has been a dampener for many. Newly-wed Rahul Singh, a software engineer in Noida, said, "I desperately wanted to attend the show with my wife, Shrishti, but the price tag forced me to opt out. The price could have been lowered a little."
Singh, and many like him, will watch the show as a 'repeat telecast' on a TV channel sometime in November.
The pop diva, who has come to India for the first time, will perform at the closing ceremony of the Formula One race on October 30.
A Jaypee Sports Inte-rnational official said, "Arjun (Rampal) is handling the ticket part of it. He can better explain what you term a high price. I guess the space where the rockstar will perform is limited. A bigger venue would have allowed us to lower the price a bit. But don't forget bringing a celebrity as big as her takes a lot. Plus, the show is for a niche audience."
JPSI has planned several musical programmes during the three-day racing event.
The price of a table of eight ranges from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. For four people it ranges between Rs 3 and Rs 5 lakh, depending on the event day. The package includes private entrance, valet parking, post-race meal, unlimited service of premium liquor brands, access to all lounges, personalised hostesses and security.
