Lakshminarayanan to be appointed EC

S Lakshminarayanan, secretary in the Inter-State Council, is likely to be appointed as an Election Commissioner, official sources said on Wednesday.

Lakshminarayanan, a 1970 batch IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, will fill the vacancy created with the elevation of N Gopalaswami as Chief Election Commissioner.

Gopalaswami will take over the post from BB Tandon, who retires on Thursday.
