THE LALIT Kala Akademi, New Delhi, is organising its 49th National Exhibition of Art at Bharat Bhavan. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Governor Dr Balram Jakhar at 5.30 pm on December 14.
Disclosing this to newspersons, deputy secretary (administration) Lalit Kala Akademi, D K Banerjee, said that the exhibition showcasing 238 pieces of artistic acumen would continue till December 28.
Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma and Lalit Kala Akademi Chairman Prof R B Bhaskaran will preside over the inaugural function.
Dr Jakhar will also present 15 national awards to the artists Rajendra Prasad Singh (Varanasi), Khatri Deepak Kanubhai (Vadodara), H G Ganesh Urala (Vadodara), Subhasish Dutta (Balurghat), Mrinmoy Debbarma (Agartala), Jaya Vivek (Bhopal), Ratul Chandra Gogoi (Balisal), Dhaneshwar Shah (Hours in Black), Sanjay Kumar (Concert of Line II), Soumya Chakraborty (City Girl), Madan Singh Rawat (Barber), K Raghvendra (Tsunami), Bhupesh Kavadia (With Whispers and Promises of Life — of Death?), Promud Boruah (The Power of Love II), Chandra Mohan Srilamantula (Remorse)..
Each award carries Rs 50,000 in cash, a copper plaque and a citation. The award ceremony will be followed by a ghazal recital by eminent ghazal singer Dr Roshan Bharti.
