RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday accused Bihar's NDA government of being responsible for the Maoist attack on a BSF camp in Rohtas district while Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi mounted a counter offensive blaming inadequate availability of central forces.
"Naxalism is rising in Bihar like never before. The Nitish Kumar government has failed to discharge its duty of ensuring law and order," Lalu told reporters in Patna when asked to comment on the Maoist attack that has left one jawan injured.
"It is the duty of the state government to rein in naxals. Bihar's NDA government, a failure on all fronts, has understandably done nothing to check the Left extremist menace," Lalu said.
Deputy Chief Minister Modi rebutted Lalu's charge and said no permanent solution to the naxalite problem is possible without the Centre taking special corrective steps.
