An RJD worker was killed and seven were injured when a vehicle in party chief Lalu Prasad’s cavalcade met with an accident in the Koderma valley, around 160 km from Ranchi, on Tuesday evening.
The sports utility vehicle (SUV), part of the more than 100-vehicle cavalcade, lost control and fell 20-30 feet into a gorge with eight passengers.
The deceased has been identified as Santosh Gupta, 35, a resident of Chapra district of Bihar.
“The injured are being treated at the Koderma Sadar Hospital,” said Hemant Toppo, superintendent of police (SP), Koderma.
The cavalcade was taking former Bihar chief minister Prasad to Patna via Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and Koderma after he was released from jail on Monday.
According to eyewitnesses, the SUV was in great speed.
