Former Railway minister Lalu Prasad's kins are feeling the heat with the authorities ordering them to return the amount that they had received from railways as compensation for lands acquired for construction of! Phulwaria railway station in Gopalganj dustrict.
In an order dated June 4, 2009, the District Land Acquisition Officer (Gopalganj) Sudhir Kumar Singh cancelled the ownership of the plots of lands allotted to Lalu's kins by district officials earlier and asked them to return the amount that they received from railways towards compensation, official sources said on Wednesday.
In 2004, a "parcha" relating to possession of a specific plot of 80 decimals of land in Lalu's native village Phulwaria in Gopalganj district was issued to Kunti Devi, wife of Lalu's elder brother Gulab Yadav, by then Circle Officer of Phulwaria on the ground that she was landless and belonged to Other Backward Castes (OBC) category.
Similarly, Sudesh Yadav, son of RJD chief's nephew Ramanand Yadav too was given 40 decimals of land on the same ground, sources said, adding the matter came into light when Prasad's kins raised a hue and cry over non-payment of the compensation to them for lands acquired for the railway projects when Lalu was Railway minister, they said.
The district authorities have also initiated steps to take action against the officials who handed the parchas over to Lalu' kins, they revealed.
