RJD chief Lalu Prasad is scheduled to visit Deori Mandir at Tamar, around 60 km east of Ranchi, shortly after his release from the Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar on Monday.

Released after being convicted in the fodder scam and spending 75 days in jail, he would offer a one-hour long prayer to Goddess Durga at the temple. However, it would be a low-key affair considering the Supreme Court’s direction not to organise any fanfare.

Social welfare minister and RJD legislator Koderma, Annapurna Devi said, “After paying obeisance to the goddess he will return to Ranchi. He would be putting up at the BNR-Chanakya Hotel at Station Road.

“His cavalcade would be escorted by RJD state unit till Rajouli on the Jharkhand-Bihar border. After which the Bihar unit will take charge.”

However, party insiders said that Lalu could leave for Patna by a special flight from the Birsa Munda Airport after his visit to Deori Mandir as one of his close relatives passed away on Sunday morning in Bihar.
