I am planning an overnight stay in a houseboat and would like to know if it is safe during the monsoons. Please suggest.
It’s absolutely safe to stay on a houseboat in the monsoon season. In fact, if you’re a nature lover, you can enjoy the rains right in the open, verandah of your houseboat. It may be not much fun for kids, since they will not have much space to play around. You can inform the houseboat crew about your preferences in advance like, meals, drinks, etc. One of the best ways to enjoy monsoon is to stay in a houseboat and watch the pittar patter. Have a great trip!
We, a group of 5, are planning to visit Bhopal. What is the distance from Bhopal to Ujjain. Does any bus ply between the two cities around 11.30 pm? How much will be the bus fares? Also, please tell me the taxi fare to shuttle between the two cities. I’d also like to know which places are worth visiting in Ujjain.
Ujjain is about 179 km from Bhopal. Regular buses ply between the two cities, and the time taken is about 4-5 hours. Bus tickets are approximately Rs 150-200 per person, and a seat in a shared taxi is around Rs 150-200. There is also a direct train from Bangalore – the Mysore-Jaipur superfast.
Places to visit:
The most important place in Ujjain is the Ahakaleshwar temple, where one of the 12 jyotirlingas is found. Other important places are Bade Ganeshji ka Mandir, Chintaman Ganesh, Pir Matsyendranath, Bhartrihari Caves, Kaliadeh Palace, Harsiddhi Temple, Gopal Mandir, Navagraha Mandir (Triveni), Mahakaleshwar, the Vedha Shala (Obser-vatory) and Sandipani Ashram.
