A six-year-old Dalit girl was found murdered at a village under Dursada police station area, police said on Friday. The girl's body was found at Kiriya Ghohu village on Thursday evening, the police said. The victim’s family alleged that the girl was raped before the murder.

The police have arrested a minor for the murder. "Preliminary investigations suggest the girl was not raped, but we are awaiting the post mortem report," said Datia superintendent of police RP Singh. He said the families of the victims and the accused were involved in a land dispute.

The girl went missing on Wednesday afternoon, after which her father lodged a case with the police. During investigations, the police found blood-stained clothes of the victim near her house on Thursday. Searching further, the police found her body near bushes on the outskirts of the village. Later, police arrested the accused.

Sources said the accused had threatened the girl’s father, but the latter had not registered a case, as the former belonged to a well-off family. The girl's throat was slit with broken glass bottle, said Subhash Sharma, incharge, Dursada police station.
