Lata may attend award ceremony

RENOWNED PLAYBACK singer Lata Mangeshkar is expected to attend the Lata Mangeshkar Alankaran Samaroh in which her brother Hridaynath will be conferred with the award named after her.

This was informed at the programme’s organising committee meeting presided over by divisional commissioner Ashok Das here on Wednesday.

A three-day function, the Alankaran Samaroh would begin on April 13. The main function would be held at Nehru Stadium on April 15. Singing competitions in junior and senior categories would be organised on the first day.
Celebrated singers will present stage shows the next day.

The names proposed for second day’s presentation include Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, Sadhana Sargam, Alisha Chenoy, Kumar Sanu and Hema Sardesai. On the final day, Hridaynath Mangeshkar will present a programme along with other artistes.

A souvenir with articles on Lata Mangeshkar would be published to commemorate the occasion. The Commissionerate has invited articles, memoirs, views and photographs on the celebrated singer and people wishing to publish them have been asked to contact Public Relations joint director Dr Bhupendra Gautam.

Advertisements would also be published in this regard and those interested can contact deputy divisional commissioner Vandana Vaidya, an official release issued here said.
