A guard posted at the State Bank of India, Collectorate branch in Ghaziabad was critically injured inside the bank premises when over a dozen persons who were forcibly trying to enter, after the banking hours were over, attacked him.
The branch is inside the heavy security area where the District Magistrate’s office is located at the Ghaziabad Collectorate, police said. The area is always well protected by police and is next to the District Treasury. Superintendent of Police (City) Anant Dev said, “The men who attacked the bank staff were lawyers from the District Court at Ghaziabad.”
According to a staff member, “They snatched the double-barrel gun from the guard and fired two shots which luckily hit the ceiling and did not injure any of customers waiting inside the branch.”
