During the interaction with Haryana Lokayukta justice (retd) Pritam Pal, lawyers brought up several issues that do not fall under his purview.

Sample this: The district bar association requested him to remove toll plazas on the Gurgaon expressway, as they are located within a distance of 18 kilometres and put an additional burden on the common man's pocket.

Pal was taken aback at the request as he has no say in the matter.

Meanwhile, the Lokayukta seemed comfortable among members from the legal fraternity. “I was also a lawyer for 14 years before I ventured into the judiciary,” said the retired judge.

While on his way out of the court building after addressing the lawyers, many underprivileged people surrounded him and complained that they do not have ration cards or voter identification cards. They were reportedly called by the bar association members.

“Sir, please talk to some of them,” said Kulbhushan Bhardwaj, president of the bar association, while he motioned people standing in the crowd to come closer.
