Lensmen covering the general strike called by Left-affiliated unions on Thursday faced the ire of the police at the Delhi Airport with a senior officer smashing to the ground the camera of a PTI photo-journalist.

The lensmen were clicking photographs of the demonstration by airport employees at the domestic terminal when Delhi Police personnel asked them to move away.

As the photographers stood their ground and continued clicking, an infuriated Assistant Commissioner of Police BB Choudhary snatched the camera from Press Trust of India lensman Kamal Singh and flung it to the ground.

Journalists covering the strike protested the behaviour of the police and complained to Delhi Police Commissioner KK Paul.

Paul said that Joint Commissioner of Police Aditya Arya is inquring into the matter.
