Deccan Chargers are already out of contention for a play-off berth in the IPL with just two wins so far but their coach Darren Lehmann defended his players, saying that there was no lack of work ethics from them.

“The boys tried hard for to win matches. We lost some close matches. There is no lack of work ethics and I am happy with their commitment to the team,” Lehmann said.

“We did not excel at the right time and did not grab opportunities. We need to get the basics right. In the high pressure of IPL, you need to execute plans in a lot better way,” he said on the sidelines of a coaching clinic. With two games left in the tournament and having just five points from 14 games, the Chargers are no more in contention for a play-off spot.
