A modern expression runs through the soothing interiors of former model Sampada Inamdar’s home in Panchsheel Park in Delhi. The house is spacious with clean lines and the theme is matched with its simple yet functional furniture, furnishings and accessories. Inamdar’s friend, interior designer and former model Fleur Xavier of Xavier Design Associates, designed the house after amicable discussions between the two.
Xavier says, “Sampada was particular that she wanted a space with modern lines, and a very international styling approach. So, we emphasised the importance of light and space and gave the apartment a calm and soothing look.” The apartment has plain white walls, where Xavier installed windows and tore down irrelevant walls to let in maximum amount of natural light, without conflicting with privacy issues. The house has a warm and inviting feel that is created by its hardwood flooring, wooden furniture and colourful upholstery.
“We have used materials such as hardwood floors (not laminate), wall to wall carpeting and Italian tiles in secondary spaces. Their colour and texture add up to the required warmth,” says Xavier. Besides the wooden flooring, the wooden staircase works as the central focus of the house. Terming it as her personal favourite, “I love the staircase, and the way the hardwood is cantilevered against the white wall. This sight is reflected in the mirror on the opposite side. Visually, it is quite dramatic,” says Xavier.

“Even though the space has many modern lines, we wanted Sampada’s house to be warm, and feel like home,” says Fleur Xavier, Interior Designer.
