A Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant has escaped from the police lockup in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district and two policemen have been suspended for dereliction of duty, official sources said on Tuesday.

Adbul Qadir, who was arrested on March two for smuggling arms and ammunition from Kashmir valley to Bhaderwah town in Doda district, gave a slip to the police and escaped from the lockup in Doda, sources told PTI.

Qadir was in police custody after the police brought him from the jail to take him to Srinagar in connection with a case and he managed to escape from the police lockup last night, they said.

The District administration suspended two policemen -- Special Police Official Romal Chand and Havaldar Jyoti Prakash.
