A suspected Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed, another arrested and a hideout busted in three separate operations by security forces in Kashmir valley on Tuesday, police said.
An encounter took place at Sheikhpora village, 65 kms from Srinagar, when a joint search party of police and Rashtriya Rifles cordoned off the area to flush out militants this morning, Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, Viplay Kumar told PTI on phone.
He said a suspected LeT militant was killed in the encounter so far, while search for another militant believed to be hiding in the village was continuing.
The operation was launched in the wee hours today after a police party was fired at by militants travelling in a three-wheeler at nearby Faderpora village, Kumar said.
He said police had also laid an ambush following specific information that some militants of LeT outfit were shifting their hideout under the cover of darkness.
In another operation, a police spokesman said a militant of LeT outfit identified as Ashiq Ahmad Lone alias "Setha" was arrested from South Kashmir Anantnag district town, 55 kms from Srinagar, on Tuesday.
Lone, a resident of Haf-Shirmal village of Shopian, was active for the last couple of years and was arrested on a specific information, the spokesman said.
