Tell us a little bit about the storyline of Valentine’s Day. We (co-star Topher Grace and myself) represent, probably not ‘first love’, but probably ‘first adult love’. We’re the couple in the movie whose relationship is largely theoretical and happens just before Valentine’s Day. When Valentine’s Day approaches, it puts a little extra pressure on us.
Do you like Valentine’s Day ?
I like Valentine’s Day but I like more homey, arts-and-crafts, make-dinner-for-each-other-type Valentine’s Day. I don’t like all the big, over-the-top commercial stuff. I don’t mind it. I think it can be very fun but I think I like to focus more on the expression of love aspect of Valentine’s Day.
Do you have a particularly memorable Valentine’s Day?
I’ve been working a lot on Valentine’s Days for the past few years, but I had really good one last year.
What was it like to work with director Garry Marshall and how did you get involved in the film?
Well, I worked with Garry for the first time ten years ago on The Princess Diaries, and then we worked together on The Princess Diaries Two: Back in the Tiara. So when he approached me about doing Valentine’s Day, I couldn’t ask for a better and wonderful person to work with. I didn’t even hesitate.
