LIC central region athletics meet begins

LIFE INSURANCE Corporation Central Region athletics meet began at DAVV grounds on Monday. DAVV School of Physical Education Director M I Qureshi inaugurated the meet while Senior Divisional Manager P K Molari presided over the function.

Apart from hosts Indore, teams from Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Raipur, Satna and Shadol are taking part in the two-day meet. The meet will conclude on December 5.

Pramod, Ami win TT titles
PRAMOD SONI and Ami Kamini won the men and women’s table tennis titles in the district-level table tennis tournament organised by the Indore District Table Tennis Association at Siddharth Sports Academy recently.
In the men’s finals, Pramod Soni beat Manoj Kaushal by 11-9, 11-8, 10-12, 7-11, 11-6 and 11-9 while in the women’s finals, Ami Kamini defeated Mohini Parmar by 11-7, 11-9 And 11-9 to win the titles. Santhosh Sharma was the chief guest and distributed the prizes to winners.

Volleyball competition
THE 29th state-level sub junior volleyball competition organised by Brothers Club began on Monday. Indore Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma inaugurated the tournament while Nagar Panchayat president (Rou) Manoj Sule presided over the function.

Sporting Union, Adivasi Club win
ADIVASI CLUB, Sporting Union Football Club and Shining Star Mhow on Sunday won their respective matches in the 29th Brigadier G S Kale memorial all-India football tournament organised by Young Brothers Mhow under the aegis of the District Football Association Indore in Mhow. Three matches were played on the fourth day. In the first match Adiavasi Club defeated Mhow Football Club by 4-2 via tiebreaker.

In the second match, Sporting Union defeated Blue Star Football Club by 3-0 and in the third match Shining Star Mhow had to struggle hard before defeating Young Brothers Football Club by 5-4 via tiebreaker.

Inter-school U-19 cricket
CHRISTIAN EMINENT Trophy inter-school under-19 cricket tournament organised by Christian Eminent School will begin tomorrow at Tulsi Nagar cricket grounds.

The tournament will be played on knockout basis. Sixteen schools will take part in the tournament. School principal Gertrude Olga Meer will be the chief guest while corporator and IDCA selection committee chairman Yogesh Jagdale will preside over the function.

Carrom competition
MAKSOOD CARROM teams A B C have sailed into the last eight in the inter-club and inter-institution carrom competition organised by the Indore District Carrom Association. Apart from Masksood teams, Malwa carrom teams A and B have also sailed into the last eight.

U-15 two-day cricket
NEW INDIA Assurance Trophy U-15 two-day cricket tournament organised by Lucky Sports will begin December 8.
Regional Manager of New India Assurance Co Ltd said their company is organising the junior cricket tournament to help the upcoming cricketers of Indore. Interested clubs to take part in the tournament may contact Sunil Paliwal.

Invitation hockey
MISHRA MEMORIAL all-India invitation hockey championship will be held from December 10-17 at Christian College grounds. Teams from Nagpur, Raipur, Shajahanpur (UP) Kota, Itrasti, Bhusawal, PMG Bhopal, SAI Hostel Bhopal, Municipal Corporation, Bhopal, Badnera, Amaravati and Pune have already confirmed their entry for the tournament.

MPSEB sports meet
STATE-LEVEL women’s sports meet of MPSEB will begin December 6. Badminton, carrom, table tennis and chess will be held. 100 players from 12 regions of the State will take part in the women’s sports meet. On the basis of players’ performance, the State team will be selected for the all-India electricity board sports meet to be held in Bangalore.

CTW sports meet
THE SIXTH Cadets Training Wing (CTW) triangular sports meet will begin tomorrow at the Military College of Tele Communication Engineering, Mhow.
It will conclude on December 8. Teams will be competing in hockey, volleyball and tennis.
