A lifeguard, employed with Chander Nagar Club swimming pool in Chander Nagar, Ghaziabad, was arrested on alleged charges of clicking pictures of a woman from his mobile phone while she had come to the club's swimming pool on Monday evening, senior police officials said.

The police on Tuesday arrested Sonu Singh (30), a resident of Jhajjhar in Haryana, after the woman's husband lodged a police complaint at Link Road police station late on Monday night. The victim, a resident of Kaushambi, is stated to be aged around 36 and her husband is a doctor.

"The woman was inside the swimming pool when she heard the sound of camera click. The matter was reported to the club management and later to the police. When we seized the mobile, there were no pictures or clips found. They were possibly deleted," circle officer (IV) Kamlesh told Hindustan Times.

The officials said a formal FIR was lodged against the accused under section 294 of IPC and was arrested.

Kamlesh said three persons from the club, including Singh, were picked up by the police for interrogation late on Monday night but the victim's husband forwarded the complaint only against the lifeguard.

Club's president SK Mittal said the incident occurred but nothing was found in the mobile.
