Aishwarya Sati, a journalist based in Delhi, has alleged that she has found a live worm in her Subway salad at an outlet in Kerala's Cochin.
Sati told HT that she, along with her colleague Neha, went for dinner at 10pm on Thursday night to the Subway outlet opposite Malyala Manorama headquarters.
Sati said that they both ordered salads, and after 5-6 bites she "saw a live worm crawling on a piece of lettuce".
"We decided to take photographs but because they weren't clear enough, we decided to shoot a video instead," Sati added.
The video was then posted on social networking sites by Neha and Aishwarya, tagging Subway India with a hashtag.
According to Sati, when they showed the worm to the Subway employees, the manager was very prompt and also compensated them for their meals.
"He was profusely apologising afraid that we might complain to higher authorities" Sati stated.
However, when HT contacted the Subway office in Delhi, a spokesperson said: "We are right now trying to ascertain the veracity of the said video as, till this moment, no complaint has officially been received by us in this regard."
He added: "At Subway, we attach highest priority to food safety and would make every effort to find out the cause behind this report or incident. We would like to assure Subway customers that Subway is forever committed to providing them the best of food quality and restaurant experience while continually working to improve its products and services across all its restaurants."
