Terming the Congress-led UPA government as being "in a state of paralysis due to its internal contradictions", leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha LK Advani has called for a change of guard at the Centre.
Addressing a gathering during an award function organised by financial daily Business Standard in Mumbai last night, Advani said, "People of India are now looking beyond the UPA government. India cannot afford a weak and wobbly government at a time when our country faces many formidable challenges. To face these challenges, India needs a strong government and a strong leadership."
He said that the country needs a government that is wedded to the principle of good governance which is critical for both development and security.
Underlining the various challenges faced by the country, Advani said that controlling spiralling inflation and further acceleration of the economy's growth rate were the main criteria currently.
Countering threats to internal security and to take on the challenges arising out of "disturbing developments on our northern border", are the other issues faced by the country, he said.
Presenting the BJP and its allies as a viable option ahead of the next general elections, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate said that "Our alliance is ready to provide the kind of strong and dynamic alternative that the people are looking for."
Advani said that in the coming future, BJP would unveil a "powerful agenda for a resurgent India".
