DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER RK Mittal on Tuesday pulled up the municipal commissioner for the rising number of encroachments in the city. He also pulled up the LMC chief for the alleged nexus between the encroachers and LMC officials.

In a strongly worded letter to the municipal commissioner, Mittal said during his visit to Bhootnath market in Indira Nagar, he found shopkeepers encroaching 10 feet area in front of their shops, causing hindrance in the movement of traffic.

During the anti-encroachment drives and visits of higher officials these traders removed their stock for some time, he said.

Mittal in his letter came down heavily on the nexus between the area police and the encroachers. He also held talks with the local police chief and the municipal commissioner in this regard.

He asked the LMC chief to ensure strict action against the encroachers.
