Former separatist leader, Sajad Lone, who is contesting the parliament polls for second time, on Sunday took on both ruling National Conference (NC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“NC and PDP have made corruption, nepotism and cronyism hallmarks of their politics,” said Lone, chairman of a faction of Peoples Conference, while addressing people in north Kashmir’s Batagund, Langate. The seat is going for polls on May 7.
Lone, son of slain Hurriyat leader Abdul Ghani Lone, alleged that Kashmiris have been deprived of the right to dream of a better future by traditional political parties.
“It’s time for a Kashmiri to dream beyond the political and economic limits designed and enforced by NC and PDP,” he said.
He said the time has now come to give these inept, dishonest and uncaring political entities a befitting them by rejecting them in the parliament polls.
“Kashmir has been the most misruled corruption –ridden state and this has been a shame that has lasted through the tenure of successive governments in the State,” he added.
He accused the NC and PDP of letting down Kashmiri at every critical juncture of the history. “Be it the hanging of Maqbool Bhatt or the hanging of Afzal Guru, NC was the co-signatory to both these travesties of justice. NC has at every crucial juncture deceived the people of Kashmir and joined those who oppress and persecute them rather than standing up to such oppressive and communal lobbies.”
Lone said, “Muftis and Abdullahs are colonial extension of the slavery system as they treat Kashmiris as their slaves and indulge in the cruelties against them.”
