UK-based NRI industrialist and founder of the Caparo Group, Lord Swraj Paul on Saturday praised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the excellent infrastructure facilities and road network set up in the state during his tenure.
"It is nice to be in Gujarat. This is my first visit to Gujarat and I feel it is the most impressive state in the country," he said after visiting the units of Caparo Maruti Limited (CML) and Caparo Engineering India Pvt Ltd (CEIPL) near Halol town, about 70 kilometres from Vadodara city.
"I congratulate Narendra Modi on what he has achieved in these years," Lord Paul said adding he was very impressed with the excellent network of roads and infrastructure facilities in Gujarat which were far superior compared to those in other states.
"I hope that he will continue with this good work," he added.
Terming Gujarat riots as an "unfortunate incident", Lord Paul said, post 2002 Godhra riots, which claimed the lives of hundreds of people, the state has moved on and is on the track of progress.
He said that Caparo Group had "bigger interests in Gujarat". When asked if the group was contemplating on taking any substantial investments in the state, Lord Paul said, "We have grown and built Caparo while reacting to opportunities and we are always up on our feet to grab any opportunity that comes by."
He, however, did not reveal the company's future plans in Gujarat.
