An unarmed Pakistani soldier was arrested by the Indian Army in Poonch district, about 230km from Jammu, early Thursday morning after he had crossed over the Line of Control (LoC) dividing India and Pakistan.

According to Army sources, the identity card recovered from him reveals his identity as 25-yr-old Arif Ali belonging to 25 Frontier Force of Pakistan Army. Sources said a leave certificate issued by his superiors was also recovered from him.

He was recruited in the Pakistan army in 2010.

Sources said Arif belongs to the area just in front of Natu Gate, 20km from Poonch, in the Indian territory. Officials said he had an affair with a girl living in India.

Army officials said that Arif would be sent back after being questioned.
