Dibakar Banerjee, the director of
Love Sex Aur Dhokha
got a rude shock when he found legit DVDs of his film on the stands this week. The Alt Entertainment production, is still running to packed houses and registering a 40 per cent collection. Banerjee said he knew the material had been sent to Moserbaer for production of the DVD, but didn’t know it would be released before the film
completes its theatre run.
“I am disappointed. I just shot for the director’s comments to be incorporated in the DVD. I hope the marketing team knows what they’re doing,” he says.
Banerjee is already being charged with being ‘inspired’ by a 2007-film called
, that released only on DVD, and Abhay Kumar’s short film
, that won the jury award at the MAMI Film Festival 2010, for LSD. “We watched many films for reference. That doesn’t mean LSD is a copy of those,” he argues.
Ekta Kapoor, the film’s producer, hosted a party last night to celebrate it’s success.
