Police have arrested 22 people from different parts of the district for rioting at Palsud town, under Barwani district. Barwani superintendent of police Tilak Singh said all those arrested were produced before the local court from where they were sent to judicial custody.

Earlier, on Friday there was stone pelting between members of two communities in Palsud town of Rajpur sub-division of the district over bursting of firecrackers near a religious place.

As many as 33 persons sustained minor injuries due to stone pelting. Police had to resort to cane-charge to control the crowd. SP Singh added that situation is now under control. Additional force has been deployed as precautionary measures, he added.

On Saturday, MP Subhash Patel along with BJP district president S Veeraswami visited Palsud and appealed for peace. On Sunday a peace committee meeting is being organized by the administration.
