Madhya Pradesh: Congress leader hurt in clash in Ratlam

A day after civic polls ended, the BJP and Congress supporters got into a bloody battle in Mominpura area of Ratlam on Saturday night. Heavy police force has been deployed in the locality after the incident.

A day after civic polls ended, the BJP and Congress supporters got into a bloody battle in Mominpura area of Ratlam on Saturday night. Heavy police force has been deployed in the locality after the incident.

Congress' Nasir Qureshi, leader of opposition in municipal corporation, received serious injuries and has been hospitalised. Several other people have also received injuries.

Police have rounded-up 28 people after the incident.

Mominpura is a Muslim locality and most of the people involved in the clash belong to the same community. Tension had been brewing in the area for the last couple of days and the fight erupted around 11.30pm on Saturday.

Police reached Mominpura immediately and controlled the situation. Miscreants tried to attack the police but were overpowered by them. Later, a quarrel took place at the hospital too when the wounded people were taken there. Sanjay Goel, collector and SP Ashish Kumar reached the hospital immediately.

Congress leader Yasmin Sherani also reached the hospital and inquired about Qureshi's health.

The situation is tense in the area but under control.
