Madhya Pradesh has opened a tourism information centre in Raipur in a bid to increase annual tourist arrivals from Chhattisgarh to 30,000 from about 10,000 now, an official said on Friday.
The Raipur-based Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corp office will be the company's seventh centre and the first in Chhattisgarh, which was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in November 2000.
The corporation has centres at Nagpur, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. "We opened the centre to raise the visitors number to 30,000," S.P. Singh, senior manager of the Raipur centre, told IANS.
