The police on Sunday arrested four people for the murder of three persons at Dhobitola in Seoni district. Chandrabhoj, Deendayal, Shivam and Vinod were arrested for killing Deepak and his two friends by setting ablaze the vehicle they were boarded in at village Dhobitola on Thursday night.

One of the deceased Deepak was having an affair with a girl and the murder was plotted by the girl's family members. Those arrested include two brothers and the maternal uncle of the girl.

Police said they will not quiz the girl as of now they have found no evidence of her involvement in the murders. Seoni superintendent of police RP Singh said, "There was no reason to interrogate the girl as there are no clues of her involvement although her affair with the boy was the reason behind the killings. The focus of the police was to nab the accused persons and they have been arrested."

Meanwhile, the police were investigating on lines to find out whether Deepak and the girl were in contact while she was staying with her maternal uncle which possibly provoked the family members to design plot for his (Deepak’s) killing.

Chandrabhoj, mastermind behind the killings, was against the marriage of his niece with Deepak. The girl was staying with Chandrabhoj in village Ramjitola; while her lover Deepak belonged to a nearby village Digdha. Both the villages fall in district Balaghat.

Chandrabhoj designed the plot and used mobile phone of his niece to call Deepak to village Dhobitola (in Seoni) close to village Ramjitola (Balaghat) where the meeting with the girl was fixed on the day of incident. Police have seized the mobile phone, lathis and sword used in the killings.

Police have gathered the burnt mobile sets of deceased Deepak and his friends which will be sent for forensic tests, Kurai police station town inspector SR Baghel said.
