The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ordered a magisterial probe into the death of a civilian during clashes between security forces and protesters in north Kashmir two days ago.

A spokesman said Baramulla district magistrate Farooq Ahmed Lone has been appointed as inquiry officer.
The government has asked eyewitnesses to depose in the case. “Any person having knowledge about the firing incident can depose before the magistrate from June 26 to 30 from 2 pm in his office at Baramulla,” said the spokesman.

The government-constituted panel will ascertain the factual position to establish causes and circumstances of the firing that took place in Krankshivan, Sopore, on June 23.

Arshad Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Aziz Shah, a resident of Naseem Bagh, Sopore, was killed and four others were injured in the incident.
