Maharashtra government should give more thought to its citizens

Highlight Story

This has reference to the editorial A race to the bottom (Our Take, January 22). The Bill that the Maharashtra government recently came out with denying migrants the licence to own or ply their cabs unless they have 15 years of domicile in the state is impractical and sectarian. This is an attempt by the Congress-NCP combine to take on the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Both the Maharashtra government and the MNS are being grossly unfair to the migrants as they are violating the laws laid down by the Constitution of India. Our Constitution guarantees us the right to live and work anywhere in the country. There are better ways to take on one’s political adversaries than by making life difficult for the masses. If the Maharashtra government were sincere in its intent, it would have tried to improve the quality of life for its citizens.
