PRIVATE CARRIER Air Sahara will introduce Delhi-Indore-Delhi flights from September 24 as part of its grand expansion plans to add 66 new flights and 14 new destinations to its network by December this year. It will operate two direct flights daily between Indore and Delhi.
The Indore-Delhi flights will take off at 11.15 am and 7.15 pm, while the flights from Delhi will arrive here at 9.25 am and 7.25 pm.
The Indore-Delhi fare is about Rs 3,000. A senior company official told Hindustan Times that the airline will soon start operations in Bhopal and Raipur besides other tier II cities like Chandigarh and Vadodara.
Air Sahara recently launched a Delhi-Nagpur-Hyderabad flight. The airline hopes to have the largest network in the country and also grab a market share of 12-13 per cent by next year. The airline would also be targeting tourist destinations like Jodhpur, Khajuraho, Port Blair, Trivandrum and Udaipur.
This expansion in domestic flights would connect Air Sahara flights from Delhi to 27 domestic destinations, which the airline claims is the highest number of destinations served from the City by any private airline in India.
Air Sahara has also placed its first direct order to purchase 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft worth over 700 million dollars (about Rs 3,290 crore) at list prices.
At present, the airline has 18 new generation B737-700 and 800 besides classics 737-300 and 400 on lease.
