The main accused in the alleged rape case of a Japanese woman in Jaipur surrendered on Friday at a police station and was then arrested. The accused, Ajit Singh Choudhary, 24, who was absconding, surrendered at Dudu police station under Jaipur range.
IGP (Jaipur Range) DC Jain said Choudhary who was absconding after the incident on the night of February 8, ran out of options and decided to surrender. He said around 12 police teams were sent to different places like Pondicherry, Delhi, Goa, Agra, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
Preliminary interrogation found that Choudhary fled from Jaipur to Delhi on February 9. On February 10, Choudhary boarded a train to Chennai from where he planned to go to Pondicherry, Jain added.
The police has already arrested seven, including relatives and friends of the accused who were directly or indirectly involved in the case.
