Major breakthrough in smuggling of weaponry

Doda police apprehended a dreaded Lashker rank terrorist that remained a prime conspirator in a smuggling case, reports Zorawar Singh Jamwal.

Achieving a major breakthrough in smuggling of police weaponry to the terrorists that was unearthed in July this year, Doda police on Wednesday apprehended a dreaded Lashker rank terrorist that remained a prime conspirator in that sensational case.

The accused was a close associate of Pakistani terrorist and area commander of LeT Abu Jindal operating in Kither belt of Doda district.

“On July 29, one SPO Mohammad Yousuf and one civilian Mohammad Yaseen were arrested by the police, when the duo were smuggling two AK rifles, 2 magazines and 60 rounds, a hand grenade and four rounds of a pistol from Malkhana of police station Kishtwar. The duo were hand in glove with two police personnel Head Constable Nissar Ahmed and SgCt Ashiq Hussain deputed at police station Kishtwar,” SSP Doda Manohar Singh informed adding that “accordingly a case FIR No 167/2006 under section 409/406/109/34/149/225/120-B RPC and 7/27 IAA, 3 EAO was registered and both the police personnel were also arrested.”

“Further investigating the case, a special police team headed by SDPO Kishtwar Liaqat Ali developed a vital lead that led to the arrest of LeT terrorist that was the prime conspirator in the case,” said SSP Manohar Singh and detailed that “police team on specific information launched a search operation in Kither belt in Bunjawah area and apprehended the prime conspirator identified as Mohammad Ibrahim alias Qureshi son of Lal Din Gujjar resident of Kither.”

Qureshi has been put under sustained interrogation and police team is expecting sensational disclosures.
