In a major blaze, 55 residential houses were gutted at snow-bound Gurez sector near the line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Monday, but no casualty was reported, official sources said.
The blaze was broke out "accidentally" in the wee hours and gutted the wooden houses at Burnia village of North Kashmir Gurez sector, the sources said.
Gurez has been cut off from the rest of the valley following heavy snowfall in the border area since Sunday.
The heavy snowfall hampered the fire fighting operation, they said.
They said the state fire service personnel, assisted by Army and local police, had a tough time in reaching the scene and controlling the fire.
