In a major reshuffle in the state police department, Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday transferred 14 senior officers, including Inspector General of Police of Kashmir, S M Sahai.
Sahai, who had allegedly described death of Hurriyat Conference leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz, who was killed in the violence over Amarnath land row, as martyrdom, was transferred and posted as IGP Crime.
Meanwhile, Sahai was replaced by B Srinivas, who was recently promoted as Inspector General of Police for North Kashmir, an official release said, adding the present IGP Crime S P Vaid has been posted as IGP Home Guards and Civil Defence.
L T Mohanti IPS, IGP Home Guards and Civil Defence, has been transfered and posted as IGP Human Rights. Dilbagh Singh, IGP CID, has been shifted to Traffic department in place of Mohammad Amin Shah, who has been posted as IGP FSL/Telecommunication.
Ravinder Kotwal, IGP FSL/Telecommunication has been transfered and posted as managing director, Police Housing Corporation, replacing Farooq Ahmad, who has been transfered and posted as IGP CID, the release said.
The official release said, Niyaz Mehmood, DIG Railways, has been posted as DIG South Kashmir Anantnag, while Abdul Subhan Lone, DIG Central Kashmir Srinagar, has been transfered and posted as DIG Armed Police, Kashmir.
K K Saini, director Civil Liaison, Home Department, has been transferred and posted as DIG Rajour and Poonch Range replacing P R Manhas, who has been transferred to Home Guards and Civil Defence department.
Munir Ahmad Khan, DIG South Kashmir Anantnag, has been posted as DIG central Kashmir Srinagar, while Abdul Gani Mir, DIG Armed Police Kashmir has been posted as DIG, North Kashmir Range Baramulla, the release said.
