Many believe following vaastu shastra brings good luck to their homes. Congress ticket hopeful from New Delhi constituency, Ajay Maken, is depending on the treatise to garner votes.

Post delimitation, the face of the constituency has changed and Maken, who is sitting MP and Minister of State for Urban Development, is trying innovative methods to reach out to new voters. The medium of choice for Maken is a calendar but not just any calendar. The one he is distributing in middle class localities like Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Lajpat Nagar and Moti Nagar has a picture of galloping stallions, along with his own smiling face.

Text from vaastu shastra accompanies the picture, recommending putting up a picture of horses on the south-facing wall of a living room to bring prosperity and positive energy.

The calendar bears the slogan — koi raasta khoj lenge, ya naya banayenge (we will find a way or make one) in Hindi.

The slogan refers to the Delhi Master Plan 2021 that allows three-storey buildings and permits 200 sq ft shops dealing in goods of daily use to be opened anywhere. There are also pictures of three-storey houses and shops in residential areas.

Maken had earlier distributed similar calendars in areas dominated by government servants, but those were in English and referred to the Sixth Pay Commission hike and income tax rebates.

“I have identified six different segments in the constituency like government employees, businessmen, people living in posh areas, slums and urbanised villages,” Maken said. He said he had different strategies to reach out to voters in different areas.
