MINISTER FOR Urban Administration and Development Jayant Malaiya on Wednesday performed bhumi pujan for the construction road costing Rs 2.30 crore from Habibganj under bridge to Dana Pani Restaurant.

This road which will be parallel to Hoshangabad road is part of the 7.10 km long road proposed from Habibganj under bridge to Misrod as per the Master Plan provisions.

The construction of this road will reduce traffic pressure of Hoshangabad Road, which is also National Highway no 12. It is expected that the construction of this road will also control accidents to a greater extent.

Speaking on the occasion, Malaiya urged officials to work honestly to develop public utility facilities without thinking of political gains. He also said public awareness was necessary against the encroachments at the public properties.

Malaiya also gave detailed information about the efforts undertaken by the government for urban development. He said pucca houses were being constructed for people residing in slums and arrangements were being made for roads, electricity, water and sanitation facilities.

MLA Umashankar Gupta was present as the special guest. Bhopal Municipal Corporation chairman Ramdayal Prajapati, corporators and capital project administration officials were also present on the occasion.
