India has awarded scholarships to two Malaysian Indian artistes to pursue dance and music studies in India. Jeya Sanggari and N Nimmalarani have been awarded scholarships to pursue graduation in Dance (Bharatnatyam) and Music (Vocal) respectively at the Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu.

Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia Ashok K Kantha said the duo were selected after a nation-wide Dance and Music Competition conducted by the High Commission in partnership with the Astro pay TV station late last year.

"Subsequently, they were accepted for the degree programmes in Annamalai University at the recommendation of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations" the mission said in a statement.
